FLORENCE, Ala. -- University of North Alabama women's soccer coach
Chris Walker has announced the addition of six signees to National Letters of Intent with the UNA program.
Walker, who led UNA to a solid 11-9-1 record in the Lions' first season as a member of Division I and the ASUN Conference and into the conference tournament championship match, added three midfielders, two defenders and a goalkeeper on Wednesday.
UNA signees include midfielders Lexie Duca and Claire Guillen of Chelsea High School in Chelsea, Ala., midfielder/forward Mya McGee of Baylor High School in Chattanooga, Tenn., goalkeeper Jordyn Spreck of St. Piux X High School in Barnhart, Mo., and defenders Izzi Gurney of Ruben S. Ayala High School in Corona, Calif., and Delaney Whelan of Fishers High School in Fishers, Ind.
"We added some quality student-athletes to help fill the holes left by our graduating seniors and we added a little of everything," Walker said. "We added midfielders, defenders and a goalkeeper and we are really excited about them all."
Walker said recruiting this year was slightly different than in the past.
"We are now a year into Division I and we know what to expect and what we need at his level," he said. "We added a lot of athletic ability and technical ability in this class."
