NOTES

SERIES HISTORY: This will be the fifth all-time meeting for the two programs dating back to 2021. The Lions are 0-2-2 against this Atlantic Sun Conference foe. Thanks to ASUN divisions, this is the first time UNA and EKU will play twice in a single season. This is the first meeting in Richmond since 2022 where the contest ended in a draw. Eastern Kentucky visited Florence last season and left with a 4-1 victory. The Colonels scored two goals within the first 10 minutes and all four in the first half. Adelyn Speight scored the lone goal for the Lions against EKU last season off a corner kick. UNA added 13 shots in the second half, the most for a single half last season. Former Lion Haley Patterson led the Lions with six shots.

SCOUTING THE COLONELS: The Colonels are 6-2-2 this season playing a strong non-conference schedule that includes Tennessee, Duquesne and East Tennessee State. Through the first two conference games, EKU is 1-1. Lipscomb shut out Eastern Kentucky 2-0 for the ASUN opener, while EKU returned the favor to Austin Peay in a 1-0 win. Most recently, the team had their game against Central Arkansas moved to Friday at 11 a.m. due to weather – they took home the 1-0 win. The Colonels have scored and allowed 18 goals this season, going one-for-one with opponents. They allow just over 18 shots per game with a .500 on target percentage. Ella Grode leads way for EKU in shots (22), points (14), shots on goal (11) and goals (six).

ABOUT LAST GAME: The University of North Alabama women's soccer team dropped an Atlantic Sun Conference game for the first time this season on Thursday in Louisville, falling 1-0 to Bellarmine. Bellarmine secured the win with a goal in the 88th minute. The Knights took 10 shots with five on target. North Alabama allowed just its fourth goal of the season — and only its third in open play. The Lions' defense pushed five Bellarmine shots off target, while graduate goalkeeper Madison Vukas made several diving saves on other scoring opportunities. UNA recorded seven shots with four on goal and created one corner kick. At halftime, the teams were deadlocked with four shots, two shots on goal and one corner kick each.

ASUN WEEKLY WINNERS: The Lions have accumulated four ASUN weekly award winners so far this season in goalkeeper Madison Vukas, forward Alice Bussey, defender Lilly Ford and midfielder Adelyn Speight. Speight and Ford won Defenders of the Week, Bussey took home Player of the Week while Vukas is the reigning Goalkeeper of the Week. These four have led the Lions to six shutouts this season with five total wins. This is the most weekly awards in a season for the Lions since 2022 when they received six in total between Alice Bussey, Izzi Gurney-Harper and Payton Yates.

THREE IS A (GOOD) CROWD: A lot of similarities can be made between the 2018, 2023 and 2025 seasons for the Lions. In the prior two seasons, the Lions made the postseason with a run to the ASUN Final each time. UNA is 5-3-2 through 10 games to begin this season. In 2018, the team started 6-4 while 2023 was nearly identical with a 5-2-3 record through the same timeframe. In both 2018 and 2023, the Lions did not win their second ASUN matchup; UNA lost to FGCU 2-0 in 2018 while the team tied with Queens 0-0 in 2023. The mirror of both ASUN final runs continues to show face.

TO CONFERENCE PLAY!: The ASUN moved to two divisions ahead of the 2025 spring season, meaning teams will only play within the division during the regular season. During post season, each division matches up with the other in the first round, including top seeds against four seeds and two seeds against three seeds. All soccer postseason games will be hosted on campus sites by the top two teams in each division.

GOLD AND GRAPHITE: The ASUN Gold Division is where North Alabama will play this season, joining Central Arkansas, Austin Peay, Bellarmine, EKU and Lipscomb. The Graphite Division includes FGCU, Jacksonville, Stetson, North Florida, West Georgia and Queens.

NEXT GAME: Following the Eastern Kentucky match, UNA will have two games at home next week. The Lions start with Austin Peay at the Cox Creek Sports Complex next Thursday at 7 p.m.
