UNA MEN FALL TO NORTH FLORIDA 82-73

FLORENCE – North Florida shot 58.5 percent from the floor and got a career-high 32 points from Noah Horchler in an 82-73 win over the University of North Alabama men's basketball team Saturday afternoon at Flowers Hall. The fourth straight loss leaves UNA with an 8-18 overall record and 5-6 mark in ASUN Conference play.

The Ospreys (10-16 overall, 4-7 ASUN) took control with an early 11-0 run and led by as many as 17 points in the opening 20 minutes of play. A basket by Horchler gave the visitors a 33-16 lead with 5:57 remaining in the first half. The Lions got a basket by Kendall Stafford on the ensuing possession and outscored UNF 14-7 to make the score 40-30 at the break.

UNA, however, could never catch up in the second half. The Lions outscored North Florida 43-42 in the second half, but could get no closer than six. After a basket by Christian Agnew cut the lead to 75-69 with 4:33 remaining, the Ospreys responded with four straight points to push the lead back to double digits.

The Lions finished with a 41-31 rebounding advantage, including 21 on the offensive end, but managed only 11 second-chance points. UNF recorded 11 blocked shots on the day.

Kendarius Smith led UNA with 24 points. Stafford added a double-double with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Agnew also had 13 points while Emanuel Littles pulled down 11 rebounds for the Lions.

UNA will host Liberty next Saturday. Tip-off is set for 3:30 p.m. at Flowers Hall.
