JONESBORO, Ark. (October 17, 2023) – The University of North Alabama women's golf team placed 12th out of 16 teams at the Lady Red Wolves Classic on Tuesday hosted by Arkansas State in Jonesboro, Ark. The Lions jumped one spot on the final day thanks to a stellar round by junior Hannah Dees and a top 10 finish from senior Allycia Gan.
 
North Alabama put up scores of 299 and 295 in the final two rounds after a less-than-stellar first round of 315. The Lions finished the tournament with a three-round total of 909. Host Arkansas State took home the gold with a four-over par 868 three-round total. Louisiana Monroe skyrocketed the leaderboard with a 283 third round to take home the runner-up honors.
 
Gan stayed steady in the third and final round for the Lions, posting an even par 72 to pair with her first two rounds of 74 and 73. Her 219 total placed her tied for ninth, the best of any North Alabama individual. Junior Hannah Dees jumped 21 spots to 32nd place with an even-par 72 total. Her third round tied the best by any UNA golfer in the tournament and closed her out with a 226 score. Jahnavi Prakhya followed suit with a 227, tying for 39th. Cassie Tasney tied for 86th with a 238 while Kerigan Klauber finished 91st with a 246.
 
The tournament serves as the fifth top 10 finish in Gan's UNA career. Her most recent top 10 placement came in the Lions' last tournament on Sept. 25-26 at the APSU Intercollegiate where she tied for fifth.
 
Following her improved third round, Dees closed out the tournament tying for the third-most pars among all 95 participating golfers with 39.
 
After the Lady Red Wolves Classic, the Lions travel to Hattiesburg, Miss. to participate in The Judson hosted by Southern Miss on Oct. 30-31.
