NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 23, 2026) – The University of North Alabama women's golf team played the first two rounds of the Nashville Invitational at Hermitage Golf Course on Monday, sitting 11th place after 36 holes.
The Lions were led by junior Ava Schwartz and sophomore Sirichaya Chanpen in a tie for 30th at nine-over-par. Chanpen had UNA's lowest round of the day with a 73 in the first round — just one-over. She had three birdies and 12 pars in the round. Schwartz had a 77 in the first round and lowered it with a 76 in the second. She birdied once in each round.
True freshman Kiersten Riggins is in a tie for 43rd just two strokes back of her veteran teammates. She carded a 77 in the first round and a 76 in the second, including birdies on holes 9, 10 and 16.
Redshirt junior Kerigan Klauber is only two strokes behind Riggins, overcoming an 80 in the first round with a 77 in the second. However, Klauber avoided anything worse than a bogey in all 36 holes while carding three birdies. Sophomore Olivia Whittle rounds out the lineup at 18-over, including three birdies of her own.
On the team leaderboard, UNA combined for a 41-over score and sits six strokes ahead of Eastern Washington in 12th. The Lions also have a comfortable double-digit lead on fellow Atlantic Sun Conference member Bellarmine, Loyola Chicago, Tennessee State and Dayton.
UNA is within eight strokes of Memphis in seventh place, followed by a tight log jam that includes another ASUN opponent — Austin Peay — and Belmont and UTRGV. The Lions are just four strokes back of the top 10.
Delaware leads the field at eight-over, followed by Ball State, Seattle, tournament host Lipscomb in fourth and Northern Illinois and Longwood in a tie for fifth. Individuals from Delaware and Seattle are tied for first at one-under after two rounds.
The Lions will play the final round tomorrow at 8 a.m. UNA will start on the same holes as the first round — 9-12 — and will be paired with Belmont, UTRGV and Eastern Washington.
