JONESBORO, Ark. (October 15, 2024) – True freshman Sirichaya Chanpen had her best collegiate tournament this week, as she led the University of North Alabama women's golf team with a 16th place finish at six-over-par 22 (76-73-73) on Tuesday at Sage Meadows in Jonesboro, Ark.

As a team, the Lions finished 10th of 17 teams in the Lady Red Wolves Classic with a final stroke score of 906. UNA entered 10th after two rounds and did enough to keep that position, holding off 11th place Murray State by one stroke.

UNA also defeated Atlantic Sun Conference members Austin Peay and West Georgia in Jonesboro, as well as Texas A&M-Commerce, UT Arlington, Mississippi College and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

Chanpen moved up eight spots on the final day with a +1 73 round, including three birdies. After her birdie on hole 4, Chanpen sat one under with five holes left to play before bowing out on the ninth green at one-over.

Following a strong couple of rounds to start, senior Hannah Dees finished 23rd overall with a +4 76 in the final round. She finished with three birdies in the round and eight for the tournament. She birdied on seven different holes, including 17 twice in the first two rounds. She was +8 for the tournament.

Next on the leaderboard for UNA was freshman Olivia Whittle in 50th at 14+ and redshirt sophomore Kerigan Klauber in 61st at +16. Klauber moved up eight spots on the final day, carding a 74 in the last round. Senior Jahnavi Prakhya finished +28.

Louisiana-Monroe won the tournament with a score of 285+295+289=869 to finish five-over. Anna Andrysova was the individual champion at five-under-par 211.

UNA closes the fall season in two weeks at The Judson in Hattiesburg, Miss. The spring season begins March 3-4 at the Huntsville.org Invitational at RTJ Hampton Cove.
