CLEMSON, S.C. (August 25, 2024) – The 2024-25 women's golf season begins for the University of North Alabama this Monday, as the Lions are in Clemson, S.C. for the Tiger Classic at The Walker Course. This will commence the seventh season of UNA Women's Golf.

NOTABLES
THE FIELD: UNA will compete in a 16-team field which includes Appalachian State, Campbell, Charlotte, Clemson, Gardner-Webb, Georgia Southern, in-state rival Jacksonville State, fellow Atlantic Sun Conference member Jacksonville, Mercer, Presbyterian, Troy, UNC Asheville, UNC Greensboro, USC Upstate and Western Carolina.
ORDER OF EVENTS: The Lions departed campus Saturday morning and participated in an all-day practice round at the campus golf course on Sunday. The one-day tournament will tee off at 8:30 a.m. Monday morning with a shotgun start. The Lions will tee off from holes 12, 13, 14 and 15.
ABOUT THE LIONS: Five golfers will be in action for head coach Neil Self on Monday, including a pair of returning seniors in Jahnavi Prakhya and Hannah Dees. Sophomore transfer Gracee Prince will also make her UNA debut after spending her freshman season at Calhoun Community College. True freshmen Olivia Whittle of England and Sirichaya Chanpen of Thailand round out the lineup.
FIRE UP THE FALL: UNA has five tournaments from August to October, including the Hoover Invitational hosted by UAB on Sept. 16-17 and Marsh Landing Match Play in Jacksonville, Fla. on Sept. 23-24. The month of October sees the Lions go to Arkansas State for the Lady Red Wolves Classic on Oct. 14-15 and end the fall at The Judson at Southern Miss on Oct. 28-29. UNA will play at the UAB and Arkansas State tournaments for a third straight season, while making a second straight trip to Southern Miss.
MAINSTAYS: Prakhya and Dees both have been on the roster since 2021, entering their fourth seasons at UNA. Prakhya holds the UNA school record for lowest two-round tournament score at 146, set both in 2022 at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate and in 2024 at the Bama Beach Bash. She is also the highest ASUN finisher in school history, tying for seventh in 2023.
