Self announces 2024-25 women’s golf schedule

Lions open season at Tiger Classic on August 26

FLORENCE, Ala. (August 6, 2024) – The University of North Alabama women's golf team announced 10 tournaments for the 2024-25 season on Tuesday. Neil Self returns as head coach of the Lions heading into his seventh season at the helm.

The Lions are split evenly down the middle by golfing in five tournaments in both the fall and spring. The season begins at the Tiger Classic at The Walker Course in Clemson, S.C. hosted by Clemson on Aug. 26.

"Our fall schedule is awesome with the addition of Clemson and a match play event in Jacksonville," said Self. "It will be great experience and elite competition for a young team right out of the gate."

Self returns three Lions for the 2024-25 season, two being upcoming seniors Jahnavi Prakhya and Hannah Dees. Kerigan Klauber returns as a redshirt sophomore.

Dees, Klauber and Prakhya will see an injection of youth this season as the Lions bring in five newcomers. Prakhya, named to the All-Atlantic Sun Conference third team while earning three top-10 finishes this past spring, looks to lead the group.

"We have a big incoming class, and I can't wait to get started," said Self. "The sooner we find out the team we are, the sooner we can become the team we want to be."

Three freshmen headline the class with one sophomore and junior mixed into the bunch. The five newcomers represent five different countries.

Olivia Whittle, a freshman from England, Elsa Maren Steinarsdottir, a freshman hailing from Iceland, Clara Peake a junior from Redlands Community College and originally from Manitoba, Canada and Sirichaya Chanpen a freshman from Thailand make up the international newcomers. Gracee Prince, a local product from Madison, Ala., arrives as a sophomore from Calhoun Community College.

Self and the Lions find themselves following the opening tournament with two more in September with the UAB-led Hoover Invitational in Hoover, Ala. Sept. 16-17. A strong month concludes in Jacksonville, Fla. with the Marsh Landing Match Play on Sept. 23-24.

Then the fall concludes with the Lady RedWolves Classic hosted by Arkansas State Oct. 14-15 and The Judson hosted by Southern Miss Oct. 28-29.

The spring season will allow the Lions to stay in their territory by competing in three Alabama tournaments. These three tournaments hosted in Huntsville, Glencoe and Gulf Shores, will be played in three consecutive weeks in March.

The regular season draws to an end with a trip to Nashville, Tenn. and Macon, Ga.to participate in the Nashville Invitational from Lipscomb and the Brickyard Intercollegiate from Mercer.

The Lions will have their fifth opportunity to compete in Alabama during the 2024-25 season. The ASUN Women's Golf Championship is held at the RTJ Hampton Cove Highlands course in Huntsville April 14-16.
