JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (April 28, 2026) – The Atlantic Sun Conference announced Tuesday that University of North Alabama golfers
Sebastian Bengtsson and
Xing Luo earned Academic All-ASUN honors.
Both of these Lions were named to both the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District and Academic All-ASUN lists a season ago. These are the first pair of teammates to win the award in back-to-back seasons.
Bengtsson finished his senior year with a 3.86 majoring in Management. Luo ends his senior season with a 3.58 majoring in Data Analytics.
The senior from Helsingborg, Sweden finished with three top-10 finishes this season and eight total top-30 finishes. His best showing came at the home tournament on Oct. 13-14 at the Turtle Point Invite at one-under to finish 18th of 75-member field. Bengtsson finished as the No. 646 best golfer in the nation with a 575-296-60 record.
The senior shot a low round of 66 in round two of the Bridgestone Collegiate Invitational at the Silverado Resort (North). He had seven birdies in that round and even had a back-nine of 32 to finish his day.
Luo completed another great season for North Alabama as the No. 581 golfer in the nation. He had four top-seven finishes this season. His highest placement came in fifth at seven-under at the Bridgetstone Collegiate Invitational which drove him up 44 spots across collegiate golf.
The Katy, Texas native had his best round of the season at the Golfweek Fall Challenge on Sep. 9 with a 66-final round. He had six birdies to jump 13 spots for seventh to lead the Lions to a 34-under tournament.
"Proud of these guys and how they have contributed on the course and in the classroom this season," said The Scmitz Family Head Men's Golf Coach Austin Phillips. "They have continued the tradition of being strong in the classroom and they have made it a priority for this team."
These two players led the Lions to 98 wins over teams this year with remarkable ones such as sixth-place finish at The Prestige tournament. The Lions beat 11 top-100 ranked opponents in this tournament while being tied with one other — five being top-50 teams. North Alabama won out over teams such as No. 25 Wake Forest, No. 34 Clemson, No. 44 Little Rock and No. 46 Colorado, among others in La Quinta, Calif.
In the Scoreboard CLIPPD rankings, North Alabama finished No. 101 across the NCAA after the seventh-place designation at the ASUN Tournament in Valdosta, Ga. The team had two wins this season at the GMAC Invitational and Turtle Point Invite while earning six top-five finishes this season.
