LAST TIME OUT: The UNA men's golf team climbed two spots on the final day to finish seventh at the 2026 Atlantic Sun Conference Championship hosted at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club in Valdosta, Ga. The Lions were one of three teams to shoot under par on Thursday alongside Jacksonville and the team winner, FGCU. The Dolphins and Eagles finished three-under par while the Lions finished one-under for the round. Ferworn led the Lions through the entirety of the tournament as he finished in ninth overall. The Houston, Texas native shot 67-72-74 through the three days with 11 birdies and one eagle. He had four different nine-hole stretches that were under-par with a round one front nine of 33 for his lowest. Ferworn finished in fifth on par-5s as he was five-under on those holes.
THE BREAKDOWN: The University of Georgia is playing with home field advantage in this one at the Georgia Golf Course. A total of 11 teams compete with this being an NCAA site with 10 individuals; a total of 75 competitors for the three days. This a three-day tournament with 18 holes played each day. Ferworn begins his trek at 9:01 a.m. on the first tee box with No. 13 Howard's No. 4 golfer and Kennesaw State's Shaun Cook. The course is a par 72 at 7,258 yards.
THE FIELD: A total of 11 teams will participate in this tournament with 10 individuals. The teams include Auburn, Illinois, Vanderbilt, BYU, Georgia, Louisville, Kansas, Northwestern, Charleston, Rice and Southern Miss. Ferworn was the seventh individual selected in this group of 10. FERWORN FEVER: The junior for the Lions has been phenomenal over the 2025-2026 season. Ferworn was the first Lion selected to the All-ASUN First Team earlier this month. He now has an All-ASUN First Team, All-ASUN Third Team and All-Freshman selection through his three-year career. Ferworn had four top-three finishes this season with an individual crown after his eight-under, 136-scorecard at the Florida Atlantic Invitational on October 27. Ferworn scored a 69-67 with 12 birdies and bested all golfers in par-4s with his 3.70 average (-6). During that tournament, he reset the Division I era individual two round tournament record that he set at the Cullan Brown Collegiate with his 137. He ended the 2026 season with a 70.6 scoring average through 11 tournaments played. Ferworn won three ASUN Golfer of the Week awards this season. He now owns five total awards during his career with North Alabama surpassing teammate Xing Luo for most during a career as a Lion.
SECOND TIME AROUND: Ferworn becomes the second golfer in Division I history to make the NCAA Men's Regional as an individual participant. Last season, teammate Xing Luo made the NCAA Auburn Regional where he finished 43rd with a 225-total score. Luo was the first Lion to make the NCAA Men's Golf Regional at the Division I level, and now, Ferworn creates history by being the second in a row.
