INDIANAPOLIS, In. (May 6, 2026) – The NCAA announced the 2026 Division I Golf Regional placements on Wednesday, May 6 on the Golf Channel, as University of North Alabama junior
Andrew Ferworn was named as one of the 45 individual participants and will compete in Athens, Ga.
Ferworn is the second Lion to accomplish this feat in as many years at the Division I level. Senior
Xing Luo was the first UNA golfer to compete in a regional at the Division I level.
The Regional Championships are held May 18-20 for 18 holes per day. Auburn University received a No. 1 seed for this season and chose the UGA Golf Course in Athens, Ga. for their regional site.
The top five teams and the top individual not affiliated with those five teams will qualify for the national championship. This applies for each of the six regional sites. The NCAA Division I Championship is held in Carlsbad, Calif. at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa from May 29-June 3.
After this selection, Ferworn now has an All-ASUN First Team, All-ASUN Third Team and All-Freshman selection through his three-year career. He ended the 2026 season with a 70.6 scoring average through 11 tournaments played.
Ferworn had four top-three finishes this season with an individual crown after his eight-under, 136-scorecard at the Florida Atlantic Invitational on October 27. Ferworn scored a 69-67 with 12 birdies and bested all golfers in par-4s with his 3.70 average (-6). During that tournament, he reset the Division I era individual two round tournament record that he set at the Cullan Brown Collegiate with his 137.
Ferworn won three ASUN Golfer of the Week awards this season. He now owns five total awards during his career with North Alabama surpassing teammate
Xing Luo for most during a career as a Lion.
He currently ranks as the No. 207 golfer in the nation, according to Scoreboard Clippd.
