CHICAGO, Ill. (September 21, 2026) – The University of North Alabama men's golf team finished the first day of the Highlands Invitational on Monday in 10th place at Chicago Highlands Club.
The Lions were 22-over for the first 36 holes of the tournament to total a 598 team score. Freshman Jack Morris led the Lions at two-over with a tied finish for 21st. The Mississippi product sank nine birdies through the first day, giving him a tie with the field leader in that category.
At one point, Morris sat tied for third place in the second round, while teammate Lucas Latimer was tied for fourth during the opening round.
The Lions' starting lineup consisted of three sophomores in Jedd Brady, Arthur Estas and Latimer alongside two freshmen in Anton Hedliden and Morris.
North Alabama was the first team to tee off for the opening day on the first hole. The Lions finished tied for sixth in pars (91) and sixth in birdies (28).
After Morris, Latimer finished five-over to finish in a tie for 53rd. Both Estas and Brady tied at 10-over for 61st with Hedliden rounding out the group in a tie for 65th.
The Lions finished in 10th after a four-over first round and an 18-over second round. UNA outlasted Western Carolina by two strokes and Southern Illinois by three.
Three schools shot under par for the two rounds as ETSU (-15), Eastern Michigan (-9) and Wake Forest (-1) claimed the top three spots — ETSU and Wake Forest are co-hosting the tournament this week.
